What is Love - Who can define it?

God is the only perfect one and who has perfect love, and he alone can define it.
True love, pure love is a gift of God -- And it is secured by being true to divine covenants.
It is defined in 2nd John verse 6: "And this is love that we walk after His commandments".

Christ said "If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15,21 & 23.
It is destroyed if prostituted for selfish lust. As the prophet Alma said: "See that ye bridle all your passions, that ye may be filled with love".

Paul to the Romans (13:14) said: "Make not provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof."

Another prophet and apostle, David A. Bednar has said:
" ..disciplining the natural man in each of us makes possible a richer, a deeper, and a more enduring love of God and His children.
Love increases through righteous restraint and decreases through impulsive indulgence."                                 ----Ensign p. 43, "The blessings of being chaste."  May 20013.

Joseph in Egypt is a good example of self control and righteous restraint.

And she caught (Joseph) by his garment, saying Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and GOT HIM OUT. - Genesis 39:12.

Without a fixed standard we are on a moving sandy foundation and travel in circles.
If we make up our own rules, instead of fixing on the eternal values defined by God, then we will walk in circles getting lost and end in failure.
Oh, No, I'm walking in a circle!

Every system, whether molecular, individual or society, without outside intelligent direction will gravitate to chaos. God is the source of intelligence.

This is such a great article - thanks! I believe a call to action is what we all need - religion is action not a passive reading assignment. Thanks
